Overall Rating: Did I Like the cigar? It was OK

Don Fedor (DOM) 7-1/2" x 48

Cigar had a scary hole in the celophane, through the band, and into the cigar. I immediately inspected my entire humidor for the dreaded tobacco beetle and to my best ability, found no other signs of infestation. It probably occurred long ago. I had 3 other of these cigars and none of them showed any signs either.

The medium hard construction of the fairly long cigar had a woody brown wrapper that was slightly dry. I cut the cigar with ease and had to put a little piece of tape over the "hole" in order to draw though the length of the cigar and not the hole. The draw was only slightly tight with good volume. The cigar burned a little unevenly with white ash and some darker spots and dimples.

Slight sweetness and mild earthy body was a little overpowered by the harshness that sort of "bit" my taste buds. The initial harshness started showing signs of disappearing, but it never fully did. After the first inch and a half, the cigar sort of took a "dirty" earthy flavor - I hoped it wasn't tobacco dust - nothing like a sophocating beetle to ruin your smoke!

After a little longer, the taste because a little creamy and cool - but retained the slightly harsh bite. Then a little chocolate, and oddly, the aroma seemed chocolately as well. The "resting" smoke was a little excessive and I notices the center of the ash was turning a little brown.

The burn then got a little uneven and I tried to correct it by lighting a match to the unburned wrapper part - it seemed to work. The ash turned very white at this point. Right when I thought everything was going to alright, the cigar started to tunnel, and despite my best attempt at keeping it lit, it eventually went out. Another match and it was going again without a lot of effort. Last couple inches burned hot, and not particularly tasty.

This cigar was ok, but nothing special. Most of the problems I had where right toward the end of the cigar that most don't smoke anyway. This cigar was a gift, but if it wasn't too costly I might recommend to try it, not a great smoke, but it was somewhat interesting.
